This presentation will explain how Assyriologists are able to identify what stars and planets the Sumerian or Akkadian names are referring to.  As a case study, how Assyriologists know that MUL.MUL refers to the Pleiades, and that Sitchen’s interpretation of MUL.MUL meaning the solar system is impossible according to the astronomical texts.
