Program Description

The word Bonsai means “planted in a shallow tray”, so is a bonsai simply a tree in a pot? This presentation will help to answer that question, and give you a new way to look at nature. You will most likely never look at trees the same way again as we discuss the origins and fundamentals of the bonsai design process. Classical design includes trees with single trunks, multiple trunks, as well as trees that express a certain characteristic. We will also go into some detail of the various tools and design techniques as well as the most important instructions regarding care.  Lastly, we will touch on buying or choosing material and some of the fundamentals of the design process using a few live examples, followed by a Q&A period.

Presented by Bonsai teacher, Kathy Schlesinger. For adults, registration required.
